I'm almost 18, and I've like a guy who is 26 for about 6 months now. I say go for it. People will tell you that you're infatuated or whatever but only you know whether you truly are infatuated or not. A lot of relationships with big age gaps have worked out, yours could work out too. My advice would be to try not to rush it. If it's meant to happen, it'll happen. You can pursue it, but respect his boundaries and make sure he respects yours too. and always becareful.
Now that I've said that, to answer your question, I think you should wait a little longer to see about your feelings. 16 and 17 are young ages, we are still in our teens and no matter what WE think, our minds just aren't FULLY matured yet. Maybe wait until you're like atleast 17 to see if you still have feelings for him, then if you do then you can hint to him by telling him you enjoy spending time with him and stuff. I'm waiting until I'm 18 to start giving those hints, but I started liking him a few months after I turned 17.
