Help answer this question below.
I've always understood that it was Peter.
God does not change from age to age.
But what he does changes to deal with human circumstances.
In the so called "Apostolic Age" travel and communication was slow and uncertain. Thus there was a need for multiple prophets to guide and instruct the church.
.
In these latter days God has given us such marvelous means of communication and travel that the words of a single prophet can quickly be brought to all the world.
.
And just to set the record straight, while only the president of the church receives new instruction for everyone by revelation, he is not the only prophet, seer and revelatory living today.
His two councilors and the Twelve apostles are also ordained as such. Only thus can they witness that Jesus is the Christ, not from faith, but from knowledge given from God, as did Peter.
It was Peter, the Chief Apostle. Along with John and James they made up the First Presidancy.
These three are seen in several important events:
Raising of the Damsel:
"And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth." Mark 5:37-39
Mount of Transfiguration:
"And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart. And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light" Mathew 17:1-2
The Garden of Gethsemane:
"Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy" Matthew 26:36-37
These three were described as pillars:
"And when James, Cephas [Peter], and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision" Galatians 2:9
It was to Peter that Christ gave the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven:
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" Matthew 16:18-19
"Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother" Matthew 10:2 It is note-worthy that Matthew points out Simon or Peter was first.
Peter recieved the revelation that the Gospel should be taken to the gentiles, Acts 10.
After the death of Peter, John the Revelator assumed the role of president of the church. It was because of this role that he recieved the revelation contained in the book of Revelation.
After John, the church fell into apostasy.

You're reading Mormons: Please tell us who was the "Living Prophet, Seer, and Revelator" during the Apostolic Age? Was it Peter? Paul? James the Brother of Jesus? John the Beloved? Or another one of the Apostles?
