Do you mean the printer driver or the printer install?
If it's the printer driver then get another copy from the manufacturers website.
If it's the installer then you'll need to reset or restart the print spooler service.
goto run and type services.msc and hit enter
then scroll down to print spooler
ensure it is started or right click and enable/start if it is not. give it a minute to kick in and try the driver installer package again.
Depending on printer some models can be fuuny in that they want you to install the drivers and software first and then plug in the printer or plug in and then install the driver. My advise is to go with the latter and install the driver first and then plug in the printer when it asks

Ok... A little vague on the information here. What steps have you taken to rectify this already? Is the printer cable (whether USB, serial, Parallel, or FireWire) working/plugged in on both ends? Did you install the printer to your operating system? What error messages are you getting? What OS? Is it a network printer? If so, is your entire network working properly?
We need a lot more information in order to help you.
Does the lexmark x500n have a duplex option?
