My mother works for a telecommunications business, and she understands almost everything about phones and phone bills. She can tell you in an instant which deals are bullsh*t, and which are valid. I don't have to worry about that sort of thing, she lets me know exactly what I'm agreeing to, and exactly what that means.
I don't get a monthly cell phone bill, ever.
I use a TracFone®, which is pre-paid minutes and a kind of "subscription," where my units stay with me, month after month, until they are used up, or the subscription expiration date is reached.
I also have what is known as, "Double Minutes for Life," which means that if I purchase 450 Units (their maximum amount at this time), I am credited with 900 Units, instead of 450 Units.
My cell phone is my ONLY phone.

There will always be fine print, and charges designed to confuse you.
And every government taxes the phone industry something fierce.

You're reading How many of us actually read and understands our cell phone bill? Or your home phone bill? I think I get it, but it sure doesn't look like what I agreed to.

Yeah, I am. It's great that she does it for me. She works in a small town mainly full of old people, and they never understand what they are signing up for, or what their bills mean. She takes the bills home and works everything out, in her own time, for free, and then tells the people what they should do, and what phone plan would be the cheapest for them. It's really nice.
