Help answer this question below.
I have known a couple of women who have lied about being raped. People who look for attention this way have some serious problems. They need help to address this negative means of getting attention. That said, what a horrible thing to lie about. An accusation like that can ruin a person's relationships, livelihood, and reputation. It also makes it harder for someone who has actually been assaulted to be taken seriously.
Myths around sexual assault:
1) It is a crime of passion or is committed by someone who can't find a willing partner. Sexual assault is not about sex. Sexual assault is all about power and control.
2)The victim was asking for it. A person's clothing, behaviour, etc...is never an invitation for rape.
3) A lot of women make up stories about being assualted to get even with or take revenge on men. Yes, this does occasionally happen, false accusations are not the norm.
4)The victim and attacker are strangers. 80 percent of rape victims know their assailant.
5) It cannot be called rape if those involved are married or in a relationship. Being in a relationship, including marriage, does not mean there is an obligation to take part in any type of sexual act (not true in some countries ie. Afghanistan).
6) If the victim didn`t fight back or try to get away, there was no assault. No one can predict what their actions would be in that situation. Also, if the attacker uses a condom, it is still rape.
False claims certainly do happen, and I believe the law should be as harsh with these as with the perpetrators when it's the real deal.
Unfortunately, it's often difficult for a court to prove that there was no consent, and they tend to believe the victim's words over those of the accused. This has led some people to falsely claim rape, which can ruin a person's life.
it's called sexual assault.
& yes i do think some people falsely claim it for attention.

Years ago a girlfriend broke up with me. We had been dating since both of us were minors, but by the time of the breakup, I was "of age" and she was still 17. She was so upset with me that she considered pressing statuory rape charges against me just to get me in trouble. I don't know where all those hostile feelings came from, it's not like I broke up with her.
this isn't a question.
