Help answer this question below.

My 1996 mazda mpv diesel engine emits so much smoke when the engine is cold. however, after about 5 minutes, the smoke disappear. the engine runs good and has a lot of power though the idling is so rough. why is this so? please help me solve the problem.

    it is normal for a diesel to smoke when cold
    the rough idle could be anything from dirty fuel filter(s) to a failing injector pump
    I would take it to a pro to have it tuned and checked out
    without special tools you really can't tune it urself
    the problem with a loud diesel is that it is hard to ell if there is an internal engine problem
    you could hear a rod know in a gas engine, but it hard to sdo so in a diesel
