Planning trip to BERMUDA -- any tips on activities, areas to stay, things to try? A hotel stay is too expensive there. Are there plenty of hostels and B&Bs, etc.? What about safety? Any insight would be helpful.

I have been a few times, it's a great little island! We stayed at the Reefs Hotel each time. It is a very comfortable, small, beach front place. Of their three restauants, two are considered the best on the island.

Yes ,the hotels are expensive there, however you might want to check into swaping homes with someone who lives there. There are many sites you can visit on line to find this type of accomodation.I'm not sure about hostels and b&b's I never saw any when I was there, but I'm sure there are some. Bermuda is relatively safe, but,you should be careful when out at night. This applies for anywhere you are visiting. It is a very laid back Island, and is a popular spot for retirees. The weather is very nice this time of year it doesn't get that hot. When we were there, it only rained twice in two weeks, but pack an umbrella because it really pours when it does rain. There are plenty of things to see, for one, they have the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen . There are sightseeing tours, one you should take in, is the Glass Bottomed Boat Tour, it is awsome! If you are there when ,"The Beating Of The Retreat" is on,you should take it in. It is a nighttime parade ,of the local bands dressed in their native dress. It is something to see for sure. There are shops but, they are expensive, except for the cheaper souviener shops. Check out "The White Spot", in Hamilton, it is a nice resturant, friendly service and good prices. There are many good golf courses on the island if you are into that sport. There are The Crystal Caves, you could visit ,they are very interesting, you can also visit The Dolfin Shows they usually have those various times throughout the day.Taxi"s are the preferred way to travel on the Island, but you can rent Mopeds for a small price and see the Island on your own.Junk food is also very expensive so you might want to take some along . I loved Bermuda, and I hope you will too. Have a great trip!
