• People go where there is opportunity. No one is going to sail on a sinking ship. There is a serious corruption problem in Mexico and in some area the Drug Lords have carte blanche to do as they please. Would you want to stay around that? They know we won't at least kill them here.

  You tell me how many illegals are collecting welfare? A form of healthcare for their kids? Free lunches for their kids? How much is that costing legal working Americans?
  
  The upsetting issue is its not like illegals stop at ONE kid. So what's to instill PERSONAL RESPONSIBLITY? Taxpayers pick up the tab for it, pure bs.

• We are in this economic crisis because:
  1. deregulation and fluctuating home loans that allowed greedy folks to get richer which devastated the housing market
  2. We are fighting wars on two fronts without a clear exit strategy and because we didn't want to raise taxes for these wars
  (I think those two factors alone are better reasons for our situation)
  
  If you want to seriously deter illegal immigration then fine those who hire them. They aren't here to mooch (in general), they're trying to get paid like everyone else which means that have to work. My solution would be this you hire then you've agreed to be their sponsor so the employer becomes responsible for the years for these additional costs. I find it highly suspect that they didn't know. They hire them for labor off the books. They wouldn't show up as much if people weren't here to pay for them.
  
  My previous statement is simple no 1 is going to stay on a sinking ship because it's the "right thing" to do.

• We can't fix Mexico nor is that our job but we unknowingly contribute to its corruption. The vast majority of illegal drugs bought from the cartels is bought by American citizens. They in turn use it to keep the corruption going. We are joined at the hip whether we want to be or not.

• Before the housing situation, before wars, before massive job loses....illegals have been here for years, and IT WAS ALWAYS A PROBLEM. Especially for border states...
  
  Now that we have these issues, combined, money going to support ILLEGALS should be going to help out LEGAL TAX PAYING CITIZENS, WHO MIGHT HAVE LOST JOBS & NEED HELP.
  
  You lose your job, and need alittle help once your benefits run out, they'll tell you: "Get a job." You don't find it a CRIME to be an ILLEGAL and on the System for five or more years...with three kids and baby number four on the way?!!
  
  You must not think highly of being a responsible citizen.

  This argument is flawed. You are making it out that all illegals are doing this. What are the actual numbers? This argument is similar to the ominipresent welfare mom. Who is actually on welfare and what is the demographic breakdown? Who is actually abusing versus those who use it legitimately? I'm pretty sure the legit claims outweigh the fraudulent. FYI the illegals aren't going anywhere any time soon en masse. You can cut stuff like healthcare but then you have to worry about the spread of disease. You can pay monetarily or with an epidemic but you will pay.
  
  Also find it funny that the group that despises illegals is also the group that didn't want welfare at all. But no one wants to seriously go after those that hire them because they pay the group that despises them. Kind of a sinister cycle.
  
  What you really do to deter illegals?

• We want things cheap which requires cheap labor. This is the price.
  We can either pay more to support local labor or local labor has to be willing to take a pay cut.
  
  Do you really want to examine the causes of illegal immigration so we can come up with realistic solutions or are you here to just blow off steam?
  
  The ones who go through this much trouble to get here want work and a better life. We didn't get the quitters.

• Anonymous, in my area I would NOT be surprised if a majority of illegals are having em left and right, because my area is 92% Hispanic. If my example sounds crazy to you, its not far off...
