Neither. Both are wrong as far as I'm concerned.
There is NEVER a good enough reason to lay a hand on a child out of anger or otherwise.
My daughters father and I choose to discipline her by showing her that what she had done was wrong and talking to her. It has proven thus far to be very effective.
Spanking can be seen as disciplinary (if the child is too young to be reasoned with, and they can be reasoned with younger than you think), and slapping is only humiliating, in my mind. There are rarely good reasons to spank, and NO good reasons to slap a child.
What punishment did you receive growing up that you would rather have been spanked?
