Has anyone got any tips on throwing darts,i find one minute ill score 100 the next 7?

You shouldn't practice closer to the dartboard....because when you move back you have to change your throw in order to hit accurately again. Best advice is to always throw at each number from the same place on the line...it's ok to move on the line but make sure you are in the same spot every time you throw at, say the 19, etc. Also, you have to perfect your throw itself. To be a good dart player, you have to throw exactly the same every time. Your body should be in the same stance, your arm should move the same way, and your hand should release in the same spot.

  stance, grip proper lighting, good flights (not bent or torn)can aid you in being consistant.
  
  Dont practice with a ceiling fan on or a floor fan on.
  
  Keep distractions turned off. Pay attention to your throw.
  
  Keep a journal to track progress. You can look back and see the change and that will keep you interested in the game.
  
  Always play others to check progress.
  
  The best practice is done alone but you need that one on one competition so tou deal with being nervous while shooting.
  
  The first time you shoot in competition you wont do good but the more you compete you will become better.

Practice makes perfect :)
For most, we are more concerned /get frustrated when we are not hitting the exact spot we are aiming for.
The secret is focusing more on delivering the exact same arm action, and controlling /releasing your darts at the top of your throw. That said, once you follow this simple piece of advice, the bottom line is practice, practice, practice. (...in the right way.)

If you've got Microsoft Excel, head on over to www.ilikemydarts.com to have a look at a nice scoreboard option. (This has a single player mode too, where you play against some random opponents.)
