cool!! the 50's black and white one I answered with was one of my first, too.
by WelbyQuentin on October 20th, 2009
No, mine was the colour one. In fact I don't remember any spider scene, just the fly getting all melted in the machine in the end. And also the dude eating spoonfuls of sugar, walking on ceilings and finding weird hairs on his back. XD

the fly 1958 was colour-i think- the return of the fly was bw-there again you may have watched it on a bw tv +5

Yes, we didn't have a color TV for a long time - - I never saw the newer ones with Jeff Goldblum or someone; not sure if that is the one you might have seen, Chainsaw PLOT SPOILER!! the movie/scene I remember is , I think, at the very end of the movie and it's an outside scene and actor Vincent Price, who portrays a friend/colleague of the scientist whose head is now on the fly, trapped in the web PLOT SPOILER!! takes a rock and smashes the web, the fly and the spider just moments before the spider gets to the fly, who keeps screaming for help. Everyone should see this movie at least once in life -- the memories of the pathetic, terrified screams of the man/fly in the web -- with that spider approaching, is terrifying still to this adult. :) If I even think about it, I get chills.

Nope, I definitely haven't seen that one. But if it has Vincent Price in it, I totally have to see it. Besides I totally love black and white horror movies.

I looked it up in a resource book I have - - 1958 "The Fly" - it stars Al (David) Hedison , Patricia Owens and Vincent Price, Directed by Kurt Neumann. [ Actor Hedison also ended up starring in a TV series, "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," I believe. ] Griffin was correct -- this 1958 The Fly was filmed in color -- but I saw it in black and white because it was a while before we got a color TV at my house. I still recommend it even if it is in color. :)

I remember my older brother saying he saw this when he was young and it traumatised him for life. He said that scene was the scariest thing he ever saw, even to this day. LOL
