How is that mistreatment? If a person is constantly late or misses work they should not be treated as well as someone who makes the effort to always be on time and not miss work.
The points system is just a way to keep track of when employees are absent from work without an excuse or late. They set limitations on how many points per year you can get, and if you cross them, they COULD fire you.
Of course, that means YOU are mistreating the EMPLOYER by coming in late or missing work.
Employers count on employees being there and doing the work they were hired (or promoted) to do. If they don't, then the employer falls behind, and in today'w world, when you fall behind, you lose money. When you lose money, you can't afford to keep employees that aren't "pulling their weight". The point system is one way the employer can keep track of who is and who isn't.
Where I work, we don't have a point system, but what ticks me off is it counts against you if you miss a day and have a note from the doctor saying you were too sick to be there!
