Help answer this question below.
Sometimes although genetics can play a part also.
No body is born an addict. People may be more likely than others for a number of reasons, but in the end, addicts can only blame themselves for their actions.
if the mother is smoking/using/drinking while pregnant then there is a good chance that the baby will be born addicted to substances.
If you mean are they born with that chemical that causes them to use, we think so. Which is why some people can drink one time and be satisfied. Addicts can't stop. They also go from one addiction to another. (usually)
They certainly aren't grown from an acorn.
No I do not believe so although some people may have addictive personalities.
YES, A lot of people have addictive personalities and dont know it
There is a genetic deposition to addiction as well as addictive personalities. I really don't know how they tie together, but I have seen enough alcoholics and their families to be convinced that it definitely runs in families. It also seems that other addictions are and can be present.
I was really nicotine addicted but have stopped. I have not had a problem with alcohol though and neither has any family members way back in to history.
I think genes can play a part in your chances of becoming an addict, but I think its more enviromental than anything.
Admitting there is a problem is more important than asking why. I have heard people starting with "why?" and not focussing on doing something about it.
No. It takes years of bad decisions to get there.
I think I read that certain personality types are more prone to having addictive characteristics. I also believe some people have a sensitivity to some things that others don't have. An alcoholic might actually be allergic to alcohol and that's why his/her tolerance gets damaged so easily while others can drink all their lives and not have a problem. Happy Friday! :)
Everybody is born. If you mean is it nature or nurture to become addicted. I believe there is such a thing as an addictive personality but if you dont try the stuff(whatever it is,) you wont get addicted anyway.
