If an officer wrote an invalid date on a traffic ticket to appear in court (example court appearance date is 10-29-08 and it is 10-2-09 today) is that eligiable for dismissal?

No, it happened to me once and I got arrested. The officer wrote the wrong day down by 1 day and I showed up for court one day late, and got arrested, even with paper work in my hands.

No. I assume the date of the citation is in fact correct, thus putting you and the officer in the correct year. You might try using it as a defense if you do not show up for court and then get arrested. If it were me, I would show up.

The citation is still valid. The officer can change this in open traffic court. He must have had a donut on his mind.
