Help answer this question below.

COULD Rumsfeld have a war in iraq without 9/11? Because he certainly didnt have a defense budget of world conquest proportions before 9/11.

    Saddam was a joke at the time, no longer taken seriously by anyone outside of Iraq. Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld needed something. Pretty much any sort of attack that could be loosely connected to him probably would have initiated it. Even with the obvious past lies, they've gotten pretty close to getting their Iran war approved based on more WMD BS.

    They would have found a reason to go over there. Just like they planned 9/11, they can plan more terror.

    It would have been alot harder.Because of 911,nobody much fought it.But even then they had to claim wmd.

    Yes, We went to war in 1991 in Iraq before 9/11 so a 9/11 obviously wasn't neccesary to go to war in iraq.

    And they don't have one now, either. The justification for going into Iraq was provided the first time Saddam violated the terms of the cease-fire that ended the first Gulf War.
