From who? Are you thinking your employer should pay you to go to a funeral, or are you asking if the family should pay you?
Is this something required by your employer? If so, check with Human Resources. If not, don't ask.
we pay our service techs like 40 or 45c a mile
If you are attending the funeral for personal reasons, then, no there is no reimbursement. If you are attending on behalf of your company/employer/etc, then the rate for 2009 is .555/mile plus expenses of tolls/parking.
