- NEW!
Help answer this question below.
I've only ever changed my Doctor twice. Once when I was pregnant with my first baby, and my since-childhood doctor didnt deliver. Secondly, just recently, when I decided that my Dr was getting old and lacked compassion that her co-worker had.
I only switched doctors when the company for which I worked switched insurance plans and that particular plan no longer included those particular doctors! :)
had to change due to his high fees !!!
I had to change Doctors this Year because my old Doctor who was wonderful relocated. I am not sure this Doctor is a keeper yet.
I have had the same doctor since I was born which happens to be Purr's 2nd doctor.. Along with Purr, I want a new one - considering changing because now she just seems to be old and has lost her touch
I've only changed once. He would only prescribe name-brand meds, which was driving me to the poor house. Plus, he had a poor "bedside manner".
None. I've had to switch doctors when I've moved from place to place, but once I'm in a location, I usually pick a doctor and stay with him/her.
I'm relatively healthy. I suspect it might be different if I had a lot of chronic medical issues.
I haven't switched in years because I can't find a doctor here. Canada. So much for our great health care. Seems all the doctors want to go into specialties. Not worth it to them to settle as a GP.
I haven't...I haven't seen a doctor for ages anyway. +5
Twice that I can recall (because things were not right)
1) Orthopedic surgeon said I needed to have a BKA (Below Knee Amputation) because of an ulcer on my foot. He sent me to a plastic surgeon who said the same thing. Within that next week, the home nurse who was meeting me at work (rare!) and taking care of my wound suggested a new podiatrist in Indy. I went to him. He's had to do some toe amputations and some bone removals (foot modifications), but I can still walk, albeit not far. I've been going to HIM, now, for about nine years, now, and am STILL able to walk.
2) Endocrinologist - Had a doctor that kept putting me on more and more insulin shots... I was using up almost a pen (300U) per day! I went to another, who actually took me off the shots and put me on meds, which worked for a number of years. The new doctor even worked with me to get most of my meds to generic, so they wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I was with him between about 2000 and late 2008, when he died. I have seen a nurse practicianer in that office since, but haven't been scheduled to see their new doctor, yet. I may have to change things, again, but I hope not. They're good.
My family doctor has had a number of heart attacks, and took a leave late last year. I haven't heard anything about him since, but the website of their office no longer lists him. I will probably have to find another one, soon. :-P
Thankfully never :)
did switch doctors once because i felt he wasn't doing me right and i didn't agree with his remedies. luckily not alot of serious things were wrong.
I have changed doctors only when I had to shift my residence from one place to another.
I might have taken second opinions but never had the reason to change doctors.
you can do that?
.
seriously, just this past month, my doctor died of lung cancer, 68, 5th generation of family practice physicians. he was a real marvel i was blessed to have known. i used to refer folks to the doctor i replaced him with and i think that'll work out well, too.
Once...I had a "DR" misdiagnose me as having MS which turned out to be a herniated disc. OUCH!
Never actually. Only had 2 GPs and both were/are excellent.
Switched Drs for other reasons mostly.
With a question like that;wondering how you are;if you want to share.
Hope all turned out Ok.
:-)
I've switched doctors because he/she would not use my hospital of choice.
