  • It wouldn't. It would probably keep them just as shy, or make them even more shy. Talking to someone online is a lot easier then going up to someone in person and talking to someone.
  • It will not help. To conquer shyness you need to throw yourself into actually interacting with people. Join the military, that will definitely help!
  • HA ! who told you that ?
  • I wonder how on earth it could happen. No way.
  • You are more likely to find people with common interests and may strike up a rapport with at least some of them. Personally, I am a gamer. Most of the people I interact with are fellow gamers, both online and IRL. With the exception of a couple of ABers, my online friends are all gamers; people with whom I share a common interest. And since there is a common ground, my shyness is less relevant because I feel like I am amongst my own people. Regardless of your interest, there are likely at leact a few million others on FB that are at least enough like you that you will feel less shy around them. I may be too timid to walk up to a stranger and strike up a conversation, but if I get chatting with four people about the best way to tackle level 17, I feel far less self-concious and thus less shy. Contrary to someone else's suggestion, the military doesn't help. The only people I dealt with and liked in the Navy were mostly also gamers and the rest were fellow Engineers.
