Considering what we know about cigarettes and the deadly damage they do to the body over the years,it is a self induced suicide. The sad thing is that the end is much more painful and could last for years, other then a quick suicide.

If that's the case, then eating fast food would be considered suicide as well.

No. Suicide is killing yourself on purpose. Cigarettes are bad for you, but so is coffee, and most of the food we eat, and cellphones, and alot of things. I smoke weed. I don't consider it a slow-motion suicide. On the contrary, lol, I smoke so I don't commit suicide or kill someone else.

Aging, which everyone does, is slow-motion suicide. And, even though cigarettes are destructive, many smokers live a long life. I stopped but only because it's still an unhealthy and risky thing to do.

I'm not sure, but I think suicide has to be done on purpose. Smokers are usually not trying to kill themselves on purpose, it would take way too long that way. They are just unimformed or else they are informed, but choose to ignore the warnings. I suppose that if someone said "If you don't stop smoking, the cigarettes will kill you," then the person is now informed, so if they continue, knowing that the cigarettes will kill them, then they are now doing it of their own free will and not out of ignorance. It's just like someone saying "you are about to walk over a cliff. If you don't stop, you will fall to your death." If the person continues to walk and falls over the cliff, then this is suicide, right?

Somebody who smokes does it out of free will. They are all fully aware what smoking does to their bodies and the related diseases that are caused by smoking. They have the free will to stop, but its their choice to carry on,and cannot blame nobody but themselves when their smoking addiction causes them ill health or a premature death. So I would say that they are killing themselves very slowly.

As long as I don't have to join them or inhale their smoke I don't consider it at all.

From the moment we were born we have started to die. So anything along the way that slows or speeds up the process I do see as suicide.

Maybe not that drastic, but I don't understand it. Now that I'm in college and I see all these people smoking I'm like, "You do realize that smoking stopped being cool once you were legally old enough to do it, right?" I don't see the point.

If anything is slow-motion suicide it is chronic obesity and all that fat, preservatives and junk food we stuff down our throats. Heart disease is the number one killer in America!! Far ahead of lung cancer. We are killing ourselves with food which is far more unhealthy than cigarettes.

well since every addiction is a self help form of suicide id have to be inclined to say yes . most people who smoke smoke from stress or a need to relaxe that this world apperently doesnt provide for them so they fill the space with an addiction to slow or numb the pain or stress. the problem of this is that most addiction lead to death of an early sort in short the answer would be yes

Well one thing is for sure if it doesn't kill you, it will make you look absolutely horrible when you get alittle older, lots of lines on the face, you will look rough and 10-20 if not more years older.
