  • An increase in global temperatures can in turn cause other changes, including a rising sea level and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation. There may also be increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, though it is difficult to connect specific events to global warming. Other consequences include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.
  • Global warming, caused by the emissions from the burning of fossil fuels, results in dramatic changes in our global and local ecosystems. Massive huicanes (think Hurricane Katrina) have been spawned by our warming oceans. For the first time scientists are seeing of polar bears drowning after swimming 6o miles in Artic waters. Glaciers worldwide have followed a unprecitend pattern of recedment. These and other serious problems such as major drought, flooding, and record tempatures have to be addressed now. We have heard the message and have seen the answers, it is our responsibilty to act. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming http://www.climatecrisis.net/
  • Storms and weather are given energy through heat. Heat of the oceans causes vast amounts of water to evaporate into the atmosphere, where it rises gradually to the colder layers of air above first forming clouds than in some cloud cases forming rain/sleet/snow (precipitation). More heat means more evaporation means more rain - however heat also pushes the evaporated water (water vapor) higher into the sky faster. Warm air rises, hot air rises faster) thus causing the water vapor to hit the colder air to promote cloud formation earlier and also precipitation thus water falls out of the air closer to shore not reaching the interior of land masses. Decrease the heat and less water vapor is created thus less rain in general, increase the heat and more water vapor is created but also that water vapor precipitates faster closer to the source of evaporation (oceans). Also storms are generated by heat - Hurricanes pick up speed, intensity depending on how warm the water they are traveling over is. The warmer the water the higher on the scale the hurricane is. Crops are dependent upon 3 main things for survival: Nutrients in the soil, water and sunlight. With the increase of heat in the oceans thus causing rain to fall out sooner than usually a lot of areas are not getting enough rain fall to water the plants leading to drought leading to loss of crops. In other areas the opposite happens where too much precipitation (hail, rain) either crushes the crops (as in hail stones) or floods the land drowning the crops. As climate changes other things take place, like the potential for disease and pests. Many of the more northern reaches of say the USA depend upon freezes to kill out the natural pests that eat our crops during the winter. Yes a few survive since they are designed to have such great numbers to where a few will survive to carry on the next generation after winter. Take out enough freezes and suddenly you have more pests surviving to breed a new generation meaning more pests to eat the crops. Many plant diseases live in the soil and are killed on the top layer of soil when it freezes, a few live deeper and also breed rapidly to make up for the winter kills. Without a winter they too take over. Some are caused by too dry of conditions, while others are caused by too wet of conditions - all of which are usually governed by a stable "mild" climate which global warming will knock out of balance. The Ozone Hole is created by certain green house gasses which react to ozone destroying or absorbing ozone. Heat in the system does and can ahve a huge impact on how fast the chemical reactions take place thus more heat could mean more reactions in the ozone layer leading to more ozone being depleted/destroyed/absorbed.
  • What is wrong with this question? (It was rated down.)
  • Global warming is a description of how the overall temperature of the Earth rises. This is an established fact. Earth's temperature rises AND falls over time. It is not stable. In times past it has been significantly warmer that it is now and it has been significantly colder. What is not sound science is the attempt to blame human activity for climate change. The whole argument is based on the idea that CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels is causing Earth to get hotter. However, there are a number of problem with this allegation. I won't go into them all, but I will point out what I think is the biggest hole in this theory. Check out the graph that I have attached to this answer. It shows Ice core data that clearly shows the changes in CO2 levels FOLLOW temperature changes rather than lead them. The cause cannot follow the effect. If changes in CO2 levels causes changes in temperature, then we should see it leading. The fact that it doesn't means that something else must be causing the temperature changes. Also note something else about the graph. Note the last decade of data. CO2 levels continued to rise, but the temperature DID NOT. Despite the hype, various weather agencies admitted earlier this year that temperatures have remained rather constant for the past decade. Again more evidence that those that say that CO2 is responsible for global warming don't know what they are talking about.
  • Longer growing seasons, thus more food, cotton, lumber, etc. BONUS: lower heating bills in the winter months. Unfortunately, for all of the Global Warming zealtos out there, the 2009 Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cooler than normal winter followed by *DECADES* of global cooling. The apocalyptic cataclysm has been called off.
  • temperature problems are increase
  • Cows and whales will start to fly. My 2 cents. http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/Articles%202007/GWHoaxBorn.pdf
  • 1. Polar ice caps melting The ice caps melting is a four-pronged danger. First, it will raise sea levels. There are 5,773,000 cubic miles of water in ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, if all glaciers melted today the seas would rise about 230 feet. Luckily, that’s not going to happen all in one go! But sea levels will rise. Second, melting ice caps will throw the global ecosystem out of balance. The ice caps are fresh water, and when they melt they will desalinate the ocean, or in plain English - make it less salty. The desalinization of the gulf current will “screw up” ocean currents, which regulate temperatures. The stream shutdown or irregularity would cool the area around north-east America and Western Europe. Luckily, that will slow some of the other effects of global warming in that area! Third, temperature rises and changing landscapes in the artic circle will endanger several species of animals. Only the most adaptable will survive. Fourth, global warming could snowball with the ice caps gone. Ice caps are white, and reflect sunlight, much of which is relected back into space, further cooling Earth. If the ice caps melt, the only reflector is the ocean. Darker colors absorb sunlight, further warming the Earth. 2. Economic consequences Most of the effects of anthropogenic global warming won’t be good. And these effects spell one thing for the countries of the world: economic consequences. Hurricanes cause do billions of dollars in damage, diseases cost money to treat and control and conflicts exacerbate all of these. 3. Increased probability and intensity of droughts and heat waves Although some areas of Earth will become wetter due to global warming, other areas will suffer serious droughts and heat waves. Africa will receive the worst of it, with more severe droughts also expected in Europe. Water is already a dangerously rare commodity in Africa, and according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global warming will exacerbate the conditions and could lead to conflicts and war. 4. Warmer waters and more hurricanes As the temperature of oceans rises, so will the probability of more frequent and stronger hurricanes. We saw in this in 2004 and 2005. 5. Spread of disease As northern countries warm, disease carrying insects migrate north, bringing plague and disease with them. Indeed some scientists believe that in some countries thanks to global warming, malaria has not been fully eradicated. hope that helped
  • Mega production of PROZAC by the pharma cartels to attempt to control the panic & fear attacks provoked by the GW hoax. My 2 cents.
  • it can cause destruction 0f are environment
  • The ice caps are melting at a rate at much higher rates than previously expected, and the sea is rising, the arctic and antarctic wildlife is in peril. The poles are the first warning signs of global warming, and strange weather patterns are already happening, with droughts, floods, hurricanes, etc. At this rate in 50 years the earth will be in an environmental nightmare.
  • The effects of global warming are of concern both for the environment and human life. Scenarios studied by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predict that global warming will continue and get worse much faster than was expected even in their last report. Research by NOAA indicate that the effects of global warming are already irreversible.[2] The IPCC reports attribute many specific natural phenomena to human causes. The expected long range effects of recent climate change may already be observed. Rising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences of human activities. Predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact. Concerns have led to political activism advocating proposals to mitigate, or adapt to it. Geoengineering is a further potential response, which could potentially reverse some effects that may otherwise be irreversible.[3]
  • Very little. In the old days they called it weather. It has nothing to do with anything man is doing. Don't believe the hype!
  • Global warming is a theory. Leading proponents of GW have publicly expressed doubt about whether it can be predicted, whether it's a serious problem and whether it's occurring at all.
