my geuss would be take the amount directed and dont over medicate but then again ive never had to deal with such severe injuries

Ask them to put you to sleep when on pain killers, if you get addicted, you won't know about it right?
Kidding aside, your best bet would be to ask your doctors, they have to check your history before going through with any operation so it would be wise to ask them on advice ahead of time so they know what they're dealing with
Talk to your doctor about your concerns, and take your medication strictly as prescribed.
That is a question for your doctor. Some doctors will give you one for a while and then switch to another or use 2 at the same time that lessons your chance of addiction. FOLLOW his recommendation and don't overtake. ALso ask your doctor about pain medication techniques or doctors. If you THINK you are getting addicted immediately tell your doctor you need to be switched to another one. Good luck.
