Nightmare on elm street actually gave me a few nightmares, so that has to go down as one of the best for me at least.

Hostel. It wasn't typical horror fare. It relied on sheer pain, rather than when is the bad guy gonna getcha type of horror. Dang, some of that stuff was utterly miserable. +5

If by best you mean which one scared me witless, it has to be "The Exorcist". It totally freaked me out - I slept with the lights on for a year.
