It certainly can be if you're texting in english and not using the silly spelling and/or abbreviations that kids are using these days for texting.
I text quite a bit for work when I'm out of the office, at a job site, or stuck in a meeting that ran over.
Within the firm, maybe. I don't think anyone outside the firm text.
Not really but more and more business are using it as a way to remind clients of appointments.
As long as it is not text speak I am happy enough with it.
It is, if you use it the right way. A professional needs to be able to use every tool that technology has to offer.
Not for business.
