The honda fit, nissan versa, and toyota yaris all bat in the same league. None of them are hybrids, all get decent fuel mileage. Hybrids cost to much and any trouble with the batteries has been known to get expensive, if that issue still applies.
Just about anything four cylinder and Japanese represents the most reliable and best value.
Trust me.

Honda Civic. Can't go wrong. Same really with any of the Nissans or Toyotas. I just happen to be a Honda fan. If you really want good gas mileage, look into the hybrid models.

You're reading I am just getting my license and am looking for a good car to drive that will have good gas mileage and be dependable. Any ideas?

Yeah, I'm on a First Car High School Junior budget, so a hybrid is sorta out of the question.
