Question

Help answer this question below.

My 4 year old was given a medication that has to be crushed and taken with food. How do I give it to her? Seems like a silly question, but I can't imagine she'll simply take a gross tasting crushed up pill.

We had to do that for our son. We would put in on a spoonful of:
yogurt, peanut butter, applesauce, pudding, oatmeal or anything that is that consistency. Mixing it with a drink can backfire as it may all sink to the bottom, and mixing it with too much food as she may not eat all of it.

A spoonful of sugar (jam) helps the medicine go down, in the most delightful way!.

Normally, I try to be sneaky and pour the powdered substance into the girls drink. Don't let her see you and it will just work itself out.

Crushing it and putting it in food is good, but if your kid tastes it and doesn't eat all of it how will you know how much of it they got?? A good thing I've found is to put it in a spoonful of grape jelly or peanut butter, it helps kill the bitter taste enough to get the one spoonful down.
