When Bush was president, he spent a great deal of time propping up Musharraf's regime with out a reciprocal crack down in terror training and deployment. I believe the situation is much better under Obama. The new president and government to be taking our encouragements seriously. Pakistan may some day, be a democratic country.
When Candidate Obama suggested looking for bin Laden in Pakistan, the republicans howled and made fun of him. Our biggest allies from the Middle East islamic countries: Terrorist training Pakistan and supplier of 15 of the 19 terrorist on 9/11, Saudi Arabia.
And yet Bu$h was kissing Musharraf's butt for 7 years.
Why am I not surprised? Today's allies tomorrow's enemies. Talk about keeping oneself employed.
Today; news reports; US has accussed the Iran gov of plotting assasinations and terrorism. Is this another scam to start another war?

You're reading Every other terrorist who arrested recently are trained in Pakistan. Isn't it time for to annouce pakistan as a terrorist nation?

pakistan will not become a democracy in the near future. Sharia is getting stronger there. Only a few rich families controlling the power like in most moslim countries like Qatar, UAE etc. They are holding on to protect their families with the help of America.
It may blow off any time.

I hope you're wrong, I really though they were making progress into becoming a civilized country.

the democracy in pakistan is very shaky. If you read closely you can see that democracy in pakistan is only within the rich circles and is atthe mercy of America. Sharia laws are prevailing and is getting stronger.

Pakistan has Sharia laws and we have protestants trying to institute religious laws. You would think that both groups could look at history and see how bad things can get when you let religion and government mix. Not only do you go to jail, you are condemned to hell to boot!

That is the difference between America and pakistan. Sharia and religious law of protestants etc.
Pakistan is internally dominated by taliban. Once American army is out, Taliban will take over.
by itinary on November 12th, 2009
I severely doubt that the Taliban will ever take over Pakistan. Most people that have contact with them learn to hate them. That is part of the reason that there are Pakistani raids in the border regions. The U.S. army is not in Pakistan. There are cross border raid with drone aircraft but few incursions of troops. The situation in Afghanistan but they lived under the Taliban and also hate them. Their major tribe supported the Taliban not for religious but for political reasons. It was all about power. I don't think the Afghan's want a return to executions in the football stadium.

Ron, Not sure about that. There are no pakistani raids in borders. It is all American directed pakistani raids. Once America stops asking for it, it will not happen. Are you sure US army is not in pakistan. They are in pakistan for years.
Afghans may not want toget executed, but Taliban have great control over them. They will rule with guns. Even if we stay there for 10-20 years we can not completely stop Taliban. It is a religious entity.
by itinary on November 13th, 2009
The reason the Taliban got control was that we supported them. They represent the largest tribe in the country. Now that they're out, I doubt that the other tribes will let the Taliban rule again. They'll probably plunge into another civil war but that's not our problem. We gave them and the Iraqi's breathing room. No matter who is in charge we will be fighting them as long as we are an occupying force. I say lets leave and we'll deal with the winners. It is stupid to deal with a country divided into tribes. When they want civilization and real government we can help. Until the the best we can do is hold them at bay.
