Should American baseball adopt the concept of relegation (bad MLB teams move to AAA and good AAA teams move to MLB) as the UK football leagues practice it?

    Yes, I like the idea but we would need to change the minor league system so that minor league teams, or at least AAA teams, would not be affiliated with major league clubs. There is also the problem of major league teams owning rights to most of the star players in the minor leagues for 5 years after they sign a major league contract.

    Not sure how pratical it would be because all of the AAA teams are farm teams for the major league clubs. The Yankees(or some other major league team) would then have two major league teams with huge payroll costs.

    I like the idea but not sure if it has a practical application.
