No they don't. Usually people will admit to their speed in court, even if there is no proof. If the officer was sitting on the side of the road and had no radar (ask to see the radar to make sure, make sure you don't admit to the cop you were speeding), you can fight it in court claiming that you were going about 2 MPH under the speed limit. Don't try this if the cop was driving behind you because he can find out your speed according to his speed. This can only work if the cop assumed you were speeding, unless you were going way too fast. If you were going way to fast under the same circumstances, you can argue that you were only going 10-15 MPH over the speed limit to reduce your fine and get traffic school. Otherwise you will really be pushing your luck.

In a police state, the police don't have to do anything they don't want to. By order of the uniform, what an officer says is truth. Even when they lie.

No they don't. Not legally, anyway. Department policy will dictate, but even then it's usually officer's discretion.

Hardcore Conservative:I don't know nuthin about nuthin!!

Whilst in court one day I saw a traffic officer giving evidence about a speeding motorist on the motorway. He said under oath in his evidence that the driver was doing 90 mph.
His next words were it was rush hour and the traffic was heavy that morning in all three lanes and it took him ten minutes before he caught up with him and it was safe to pull him over.

The magistrates believed his evidence and the driver got fined and penalty points on his licence. He had a clean licence and had never been fined for a motoring offence. All of the officers sat their in amazement because we knew the officer was telling lies because you cannot travel at ninety-nine mph in heavy traffic can you. Incidentally the car was a Daimler and the driver was from Ghana. Was he pulled over for speeding or was it because of the colour of his skin? We all know racist police officers we have served with don’t we, and we all know they abuse their authority and persecute people with darker skins than their own.A racialist in society is still a racialist in police uniform, isn’t that a fact!!
