Question

Help answer this question below.

I am renting an old home and the pipes here are copper. As most of the old homes here are. I was wondering if the water would be safe to drink? Do I need some sort of filter system bc of the old copper pipes?

If it makes you feel better, then you could put a filtration system in the plumbing under your kitchen sink, but it is not necessary.

most copper pipes were soldered with a lead alloy, but after several years it will have sealed & be untraceable - copper pipes have less problems than plastic or steel

Copper pipes are absolutly 100% fine. You CAN drink the water. However if the water comes out with loads of sediment, get a filter. If your water comes from a tank (not mains) you don't know how long it's been in there so boil it.
