How do you disable auto-capitalization in Microsoft Word? I still want the first letter of sentences to be capitalized, just not every time I hit the enter key.

If you're doing what Word calls a numbered list, ie a list of paragraphs beginning with alphabetic labels (a,b,c and so on) go to the Format...Bullets and Numbering menu, click the tab labelled "Numbering" and pick the one with lower case letters.

If it's just that you want Word to OCCASIONALLY not make a capital letter automatically, just hold down the keyboard Control key and hit z as soon as the auto-capitalisation is done. For example press a and Return and the a becomes A, hit Control/z and A becomes a again.

It is a setting under "Tools"/"Options". Lemme see if I can find it again...

Ok, it is the "Spelling and Grammer" tab. Click the "Settings" button under the "Grammer" heading. Capitalization is there. This should work.

Go to the Format menu and look for 'AutoFormat...' (it may take few seconds to appear if you have simple menus turned on). Click options in the dialog that appears, then select the 'AutoCorrect' tab and disable any capitalization options that you don't want. That's it. You're done.
