Ah no.
We do not uprate each other other than uprating like we do anyone else.
Just look at my points score to see that I am not mass uprated by anyone.
All that happens when someone becomes a COAT is a welcome letter. Well, after we have them run the obstacle course that may or may not have razor wire and hungry alligators in a pit.
COAT members are just one of the groups on this site. our goal is to help other users earn points. there's a lot more that can be viewed on my profile. ^_^
i haven't given any celebrations- yet- but it's just a way for others (such as new users) to know what's in for them if they reach a certain level. it also gives the user who is given the celebration a good feeling. i've gotten one so far which had nothing to do with this site but getting into the academic olympics team in 8th grade.
hope this helps.
What do you think would be the coolest COAT to wear?

Do you think COATs are the nerds and or 'goodie-two-shoes' of Answerbag? (I'm not saying I think this or anything...)

You're reading What are COATS in AB, and why do they ask "to celebrate" by uprating whenever one achieves it?

Then why "celebratory" questions receive 100+points?
by Tania Lue on November 5th, 2009
Celebratory questions are usually congratulating anyone for leveling up. There is no pointsing of someone because they became a COAT.
.
I am a big opponent of celebratory questions as they are done now and think that they should not get points.

Thanks for clarifying. It was confusing trying to understand what goes behind the COAT events. +4
