a berry like a blueberry but smaller and sweeter .
most blueberry pie fillings you buy are actually saskatoons .
they only grow (mostly ) in Canada .
actually named after a Canadian town .(or vise versa)

When I lived in Alberta, I had a long row of Saskatoon bushes on my property. Witchy is right, they do make the best homemade jelly, jam and pie filling. : )

@ Charlie - Yup, I only pop in here once in a while .. this is my time of the year to be outside. How ya been kiddo ?? ; )
@ Witchy - You're right. Where I live now (where I grew up) I have choke-cherries in my back yard. They are super bitter (make my eyes squint, but the deer eat them)and I don't remember them being that bitter when I was a kid. Could it be all the beer that's flowed over my taste buds ?? lol : )

I like all sorts of jams and jellies, but I'll try to narrow the list down to a few ....
Homemade - Saskatoon, and Strawberry / Banana.
Store bought - Smuckers Raspberry.
