Do you mean "depicting"? Hieronymus Bosch, bigtime.
There are some great works by Albrecht Durer that were done in the middle ages that you might find appealing. Most of them that would qualify as what you want are probably from his wood cuttings, but you could likely find painted versions of those if you looked.
