    Pretty much the same as a personal check except they are 'guaranteed' and the bank/merchant/etc doesn't have to worry about them 'bouncing'. You'll pay a price to buy them and perhaps a fee to cash them in which can be difficult to do! I really would not recommend them!

    Give you access to cash remote from home. Fixed denominations which can be exchanged for cash at most banks or exchange points.
    You have to produce a means of identification usually a passport to get the cash.
    Usually a fee is charged for the cheques on issue and the rate of exchange given may include a handling fee on encashment.
    Advantage is security, access is limited to face value, there are no details of holders a/c's and to cash, a proof of identity is required.
