I'm a truckdriver and live in it most of the time. How can authorities search my sleeping quarters at will without a warrant? Shouldn't that be considered my home?

I tried that on the cops one time, in VA. I asked them what was there probable cause, and they said they didn't need one, then said I was weaving.I told them I lived in that truck and it was my home. They said that they could get a search warrent, I said okay, get one! they made me wait 4 hours on the side of the road, then got out of there car and said the judge wouldn't sign it, I was free to go. I think they were just fucking with me. I had NOTHING ILLEGAL in my truck, I just don't want anyone poking there noses in my private space. But it cost me 4 hours and made me late for my appointment to unload.

If its a company-owned truck, a police search is legal. its not your property. you are just using it in your job. just like a computer at work.

Personal trucks may be a different story, depending on the circustances. if an officer suspects drugs in the cabin of the truck, he will call for a drug dog to further back his beliefs of illegal contraband(drugs).

If the dog hits on the drugs, a search warrant may or may not be required, depending again on the circumstances of the original stop.

They're cops. They'll do it at your home too if they feel like it.
