Unless it is job related, they are in a high speed chase, burglary in progress, saving a life or it is something that they have to do because of their job, they should follow the traffic Laws, just like the rest of us.

Over my many years, the cops have cut me more breaks than I even want to think about. I treat them with the respect they deserve.

So, no, I try 'n follow the law as best I can. When I do the wrong thing --break the law-- I'll not look for childish "excuses", but will face the consequences as imposed.

As I see it, their speeding, U-turns, etc., are just little percs our good cops have...for puttin' their lives on the line for us...every day! Naw, I'm not gonna get bent on that.

    But that's OK...+5, anyway.

yes, it's in their regulations. i encourage anyone to report officers that appear to be doing wrong. my brother in law is a cop and has had complaints in the past. those complaints have been found to be illegitimate, but rest assured, all complaints are given his departments full attention. the problem comes in with undermanned or corrupt departments either ignoring or not being able to give complaints the attention they deserve. but that shouldn't stop people from complaining.

As far as I know they do. If you see them doing anything you consider wrong you're free to query it and get an answer. But not right then and there, that u-turn just maybe follows a call were a life is in danger.

Like to think if I'm in trouble you'd cut some slack for the officer coming to my rescue.

They're required to, but really what cop is going to pull over another cop for a traffic violation?

They do have to, it was in the paper that a police car which had part to get lunch on double yellow lines (UK)
got a partking ticket , just as any other person would have, ah just remember also there was a case of a speeding ticket issue when they were caught on camera for speeding. but i must say it is very rare.but they are suposed to follow the same traffic rule if not in pursuit.

Not in every case. They are not private citizens while in uniform.

Yes they should. They are no different than regular citizens when not on duty though some think that they should be able to do anything they choose. I have some police officers making illegal u turns and everything else here.

Yes, but I don't want to be the one that tells them. Let Gomer do it, he made a 'citizens arrest' on Barney for making a U turn in the street. Things got pretty ugly.

Absolutely! They are some of the worst offenders of the laws that they are quick to issue tickets and summonses for!
