Help answer this question below.
WITH THE ENGINE COLD:
Lift the hood and find the upper radiator hose. Follow that hose from the radiator to where it connects to the engine. The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing that the hose is connected to.
To replace the thermostat, loosen the radiator hose and work it free of the thermostat housing. Usually two bolts hold this housing in place. Remove those bolts, pop the housing off, and pull the thermostat out. NOTE HOW THE THERMOSTAT IS INSTALLED FIRST because you will need to install the new thermostat in the same orientation.
I do not know whether your thermostat comes with a rubber seal which fits around the thermostat or whether you need a gasket. You can tell by looking at your old thermostat. If it has a rubber seal around it's edge, then the new one should come with one. Make sure it's installed.
If it isn't made to work with a rubber gasket, then you will need a gasket. You need to buy this separately from your thermostat. The parts store will know what you need.
Clean the old gasket and sealant off the mating surfaces on the engine and the housing. Apply a think coat of RTV (the parts store will know which one you need) or Permatex, No. 2, to both sides of the gasket.
Install the new thermostat in the same orientation as the old one. Place the gasket in place, lining up the bolt holes. Install the housing and snug the bolts down evenly, alternating from bolt to bolt, until it's firmly mounted.
Reconnect the upper radiator hose.
NOTE: Now is the time to inspect and replace any hoses which show any signs of rot or damage. And to flush your radiator if need be.
Top off your coolant as necessary.
Start the engine and let it warm up. Inspect for leaks and watch your engine temperature (or idiot light) for signs of overheating.
in the housing at the end of the top hose usually.
