are they 6 volt or 12? If they are twelve volt and you wire them in series you will get 24V.If they are 12 volts and you wire them in parallel you will have the same volts but more current for starting power or whatever.My guess is if they are 12 volt batteries then they need to be wired in parallel.

I have a 87 Itasca winnebago. The batteries for the coach are dead. Are they susposed to charge when the motor is running. Will I have to use a charger everytime I want to use the motorhome? What are some things that I should be looking for?

Thank you for the answer but the battery that starts the motor is not affected, it is the batteries that supply the coach that are dead. Is there something that charges these batteries while the motor is running or how does that work.
