Why are motorcycles parked perpendicular to the curb instead of parallel like other vehicles?

    Motorcycles are about as long as most care are wide. And I for one would not want some idiot parking in the space my bike is in, parallel to it. People have a hard enough time seeing us anyway!

    Two reasons:

    1) It's much easier to pull out into the street if the cycle is parked perpendicular (assuming there are cars parked to either side of it)

    2) It takes up less space, leaving more space for cars to park.
