Then again, it all depends on the melody and other chords too....
I would venture to guess that it's in D major. Many songs use the dominant, subdominant, and tonic chords. If this is in D major, than D would be the tonic, G the subdominant, and A the dominant.
It's probably in the key of G minor.
'G' would act as the tonic.
'D' would act as the dominant.
'A' acts as the flat-7 (as opposed to an 'A#', which would be the leading tone, suggesting a major scale).
