Al pageants are a joke, give me something real. Tell me they helped at the homeless shelter, they worked with abused kids, learning how to do the Miss America wave doesnt impress me.

What is it you consider a joke? They are no more a joke than the NFL or pro basketball or country music...its BIG BUSINESS...a LOT of money trading hands. Thats what makes the World go round.

I think all beauty peagant whether is miss usa, or miss ....., they are not always fair. I've seen better looking girls than the winner.

They shouldn't be compared
1) The Miss America Pageant is a scholarship program with real responsibilities attached.
2) The Miss Universe Pageant is owned by Trump looking for someone to hold the title.
Have they outstayed the welcome - yes. Scholarship programs should be awarded by grades not by beauty.
And Mr Trump & the Miss Universe people could call it a beautiful women application event. International women applying for a spokespersons position. No swimsuit, business suit competition instead.

The Miss Universe one certainly is. I dislike pageants in general... but 'Miss Universe'?? How can we say that the winner is the best woman in the Universe?? We don't even know if there's other intelligent life out there... how can we say our women are the most attractive when our women are the only ones we've seen!!?

I don't think they're a joke, but I don't have positive opinions about pageants. Who is to say who is the most beautiful or kind woman of all? It's ludicrous. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and shows like these reinforce the whole idea that beauty must be long haired skinny women.

Every single competition based on looks alone is a complete waste of time, money, effort and are just plain stupid. We could be using the money from the pagents to fund staving kids in africa or help the star light foundation grant wishes for sick kids.
