Help answer this question below.
You've never gotten a bump before? If it is that big a deal seek medical attention. We can't diagnose for you. You hit your shin that is normal. The swelling is a healing taking place after the trauma.
A bag of frozen peas should alleviate the swelling.
It's swollen because you've injured it. Put ice on it that will help to take the swelling down. It's a very normal response to an injury. Not serious and it will go away. Shin bruises seem to stay and hurt an especially long time for me so don't be too concerned if it hurts for a while. You could also lie down and put your leg up on a pillow for a while along with the ice to help the swelling go away.
Just put a little more water with it and move on :-)
If you are uncomfortable, seek medical attention to be sure you don't have a blood clot.
Can you get a cpr certification online?

I did not want a diognosis(sp?)i was just wondering if it was normal or not.

That wondering is what makes someone give you the diagnosis. What do you think someone answering whether that is normal or not is? It's a diagnosis. Just not a very accurate one. Put some ice on it and that will take care of a lot of the swelling. In the sense that this is normal, you are fine so far.
