What and where do you think the term "Magnum" in .357 and .44 Comes from.aRE THESE MORE POWERFUL THAN THE .44 SPEACIAL?

    I think it comes from over sized champaign bottles from long before cartridge firearms. The .44 has about half again the muzzle energy of the .357 but the .454 Casull has about 35% more muzzle than a .44 mag. Magnum guns were preceded by magnum wine and champagne bottles which are 2X of standard size, and I think from which the cartridges borrowed the word.
