This from memory because I know a lot. He was Dutch in a reasonably well off family and when his time came to go out in the world, he was totally unprepared. He didn't get what society wanted at ALL. But he was such a pure soul and his "accountant" type brother loved him dearly. His brother "sold" good art in a well-respected gallery. His brother, Theo, took care of Vincent and keep his own life separate, but at the ready, for Vincent's emergencies which sprang up frequently all this life. Vincent was gifted and cursed. He could not express how he saw the world and function in it with that Dutch sensibility overridden by that Heart of Gold.

He's the ginger Dutch post-Impressionist painter every beginning artist really likes for a little while, before they move on to others and pick on people who are still enthusiastic about his work. It is a bit cartoony. I prefer historical Islamic art.
