Just like in the good ole days, you got to warm them up for awhile, before you can use them. :-)

LOL! Cotton, mine did that for so long; I finally decided the frustration and aggravation was worth buying a new one! I spent too much time trying to figure out what was wrong. I would work for a while; then freeze, etc.

Could be a RAM or CPU hog problem if not malware. Boot into safe mode and run your antivirus and malware package - try malwarebytes.org for one.

If nothing and problem still exists then type msconfig in the run box and goto startup tab and deselect everything except your antivirus.

If the issue is still there then get a prgram called process lasso and hit whatevers chowing too much cpu or RAM. You should then see an improvment if not then goto crucial.com and let them scan your pc and it'll tell you what your RAM options are you want to be 1GB or above.

Just do to it what you'd have done to your girlfriend. Start slapping it around until it obeys you.

If the whole computer is locking up, the first thing I would look at are the number of processes you have running and how much RAM you have.

I used to have a problem with this on my laptop, which came with 512 MB of RAM, with XP Home Edition on it.

If I had too many programs open at the same time, or multiple IE Windows open, it would lock up on me.

I spend the money to upgrade my RAM to 2GB and that quit happening.

Computers, like women are sensitive beasts. easily upset and they need to be treated with great care. One wrong move and the flow is lost. Pay more attention to the nuances Cotton. There will be clues as to when it is going horribly wrong. Ignore them at your peril. (be afraid, be very afraid)+5 for admitting you need help.FOFLMAO,
