When your platform is ridiculousness and hate, how can you debate an issue?
Simple. If they had something to say, they would say something! :) They got nuthin' else so they browbeat! :(
It doesn't take a degree in psychology to see what is going on in this party.
It appears as though doling out and receiving punishment has become a compulsion among the more vocal, radical Republicans at the expense of any rational discourse. Eight years of nasty tricks and behaviour by their leaders such as Karl Rove has corrupted this party and now the extreme element among them seems to have come unleashed.
Sadomasochism is what defines the essential character of today's Republican. They’re sadistic in that they lash out at people who are weaker than themselves: the poor, the homeless, the handicapped, any kind of minority, homosexuals, immigrants, foreigners, the under and uninsured, the under and unemployed, the foreclosed upon, and any ideology they consider non-aggressive and therefore weak. They actually attempted to legalize torture. At the same time, they’re masochistic. They are followers of extraconstitutional "higher" causes, antidemocratic "strongman" leaders, magic helpers like James Dobson, Douglas and David Coe, or the macho Jesus archetype that they worship. This is what defines this political movement.
The party followers are perfect submissives to the bullies such as Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc., whom they idolize. Who, with any kind of self esteem at all, would proudly call themselves Dittoheads? When there is no supervision, this materializes again and again among their minions in the sadism of Abu Ghraib, the well-documented behaviour of rogue Blackwater agents, and the homosexual sadomasochistic and scatological rituals performed by the ArmorGroup's (Wackenhut Services) privately contracted guards at the American embassy at Kabul.
Not surprisingly, the personal lives and crimes of their touts, party leaders, and Christian fundamentalist followers blatantly reveal these same tendencies:

Washington politicians, especially Republicans, who "stray from the path," have a very powerful protector working in their favor. Variously known as The Family, The Fellowship, and a dozen or more other names, this highly secretive Christian fundamentalist group has been influencing US government policy for decades. It came into the spotlight this summer as their "Prayer House on C Street" made headlines where Republican Congressman Chip Pickering and Republican Senator John Ensign lived while they were involved in extra-marital affairs. Pickering brought his mistress to his room at the C Street house. It is also where Republican Governor Mark Sanford went for "counseling" during his sex scandal.
Masochism again raises its ugly head in the form of self flagellation when these men supplicate themselves first to the Family in confession, then to the public in general. The most blatant being the recent very public self-pilloring of the Reverend Tim Haggard on various TV talk shows after being caught up in a homosexual affair and meth scandal two years ago.
The Family has been around since 1935 and has demonstrated heavy political influence in Washington since at least 1953. Its leadership has stated that emulating the tactics of leaders like Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, and Osama bin Laden are viable means of meeting their goal of a fundamentalist Christian world under the leadership of the United States Government. Son of Family head Douglas Coe, David Coe has suggested that members of the Family "are here to learn how to rule the world." They have a long history of protecting and advising Republican politicians who run into trouble. The "Counseling" they receive involves confession which leaves these politicians open to blackmail, a technique of political influence that this group has no objection to using in light of their affinity with the most sadistic, unscrupulous, megalomaniacal leaders in history according to the statements of their leadership.
Here is some information and history on this group:

The Family was recently infiltrated by reporter Jeff Sharlet. Here is an article describing some observations he made during his stay with the Family:

Such would require honor.
Something they lack.
They have recently picked up the old liberal handbook on political protesting. On behalf of all Republicans; Thank you Saul Alinsky and all other browbeating liberals out there.
They do not have the wherewithall to debate or reason.
What is left for them? Their spoonfed talking points don't hold up to even casual scrutiny.
Do you have some statistics? Examples? Do you honestly believe that Republicans browbeat and Democrats don't?
i think republicans used to THINK back in the days of eisenhower, nixon, reagan, and bush #41. in #43, they became emotive automatons and have not yet regained that ability to independently think and articulate thoughts nor have they regained the ability to empathize with others. browbeating is what's left until they become human again - it's their last line of defense. sad, how far people will go so that they don't have to look at themselves in the mirror and change for the better.
Karl Rove was definitely better at what he did than James Carville was but Carville performed much the same function. The current Department of Justice dismissed a case against some New Black Panthers accused of voter intimidation. Whether it was political remains to be seen. Maybe they dismissed it for fun, but some non-appointees in the DoJ are going to be interviewed. I understand that the Daily Kos plays reasonably fairly. The Huffington Post does manage lies and slurs though. If we must compare Limbaugh and Beck to someone how about Air America hosts?
.
But really, this is a stupid game. Your main thesis, that conservatives resort to browbeating more than liberals is unsupportable, particularly if you factor in campus speech codes.
.
And by the way, one of your non-browbeating, reasoned argument-type Democrats DRed me.
Because you are probably a Democrat and that is how you see it.
If you asked a Republican the same question, he would insist that it's the Democrats who are guilty of doing that.
People like to think that they are right, no matter what side of the political spectrum they are on.
Now, whether someone is actually right or not is a completely different, and sometimes subjective, question.
Because that's what politicians (most ALL politicians) do. Even those who know the subject/issue tend to attack those who have opposite views in the press. They discuss it in person. They discuss it in committee. They discuss it on the floor. In the press, they browbeat.
Remember, that's most ALL politicians, NOT just Republican.
I am not a Republican, I do not believe wholeheartedly in either conservative or liberal but I have seen it on both sides of the aisle.
I would say it's not limited to the GOP. The GOP has legitimate reasons for what they want also. The problem is our society is designed to be competitive, so when people think less selfishly than others, it's hard for them to comprehend the selfish reasons, and vice versa. The truth is almost noone knows all of the aspects that go into every issue. So when you start challenging someone's humane side, of course they are going to get defensive. It's only natural. +3
The Rep I know do not browbeat. When I try to discuss issues, most dem I know agree with me on the issues but think dem will do it. (Like Obama gonna end the war and bring troops home---He did not say that he said he was sending then to Afganistan.) Or just say you can't trust any of them. But why not vote for who is at least saying what you agree with?
Why are so many young people asking the government to cover their butts when they are too lazy to work?
The USA thrived because people were willing to work for their pay. Now you're asking why the government won't support you from cradle to grave?
Get a reality check.
Republican strategy says that the only thing that is important is to make sure that the democrats get nothing done.
The party is not interested in the issues just stopping solutions. As far as they are concerned, the voters have no standing and their constituents should just go to "Tea Parties" and yell at democrats. That is more important than health care, the economy, or any other issue, to them. This is about power, not government.
I think you have your political parties mixed up.
Because they have really big eyebrows??

I am a natural browbeater myself and they allow me to practice on them. They suck. How's that for browbeating?

You're reading Why the do so many Republicans consistently browbeat rather than argue the issues?

They seem to have recently veered toward a platform with that in it.
