  • From the Mid-East point of view, well I don't have to tell you. World sentiment for once unite for the United States after the events of 9/11. In a French newspaper, I remembered reading the headlines which stated: Today the French mourns with the Americans or something like that. Correct if I am wrong. However, with the introduction of the Iraq War in March 2003, a majority of the world's opinions shifted for the worst, however not all of the countries takes this stance.
  • Do you mean how Americans see the world, or how the world sees americans? Americans are so diverse that you can't say they see the world in one way or another. I mean, look at our politics. We can't even decide how we see ourselves. As for the world... Depends on the country. Every country has a different view. The UK is our allies, though some parts of the UK look down on the US, while others are neutral, or like us. Iran, it seems, wants to blow us up. So its all relative to perspective.
  • Well I hope they don't watch "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader" or "1 vs 100" or they will think we are a bunch of idiots. The contestants on those shows are sorely lacking in general knowledge!
  • Everybody has a somwhat unique view, so it's impossible to say. However, for my money, rather negative. It's like combatting a discourse, nothing can be done about it - you just have to ignore it and shoot off into weird directions, hoping to add a new perspective.
  • I would think that the world as a whole sees the U.S. as fairly backwards and very skrewed up in matters of internal affairs, which we kind of are, all told. But as an Iranian friend of my mum's once said. "If you don't like your country, change it."
  • As an American, I see americans as pompus arrogant asses that need someone to slap us around and show us that we aren't all we're cracked up to be. I'm sick of this 'we know better than you/world police' attitude.
  • In the eyes of the world, Americans are stereotyped by what is seen in the media. The world sees America in the media continuosly and im not just talking about news reports, but things such as movies, sitcoms, bands, etc. This is the worlds window on america, because how many people have actually been there? What is seen is a nation of 'perfect' people. An extremely materialistic and idealistic nation, but also a nation that sees themselves greater and better than everyone else. In a bad way. I dont mean to be offensive to any americans out there, but that is the truth.
  • I've traveled a bit and I've found over the yrs, we were perceived as simple-minded, overfed and a bit arrogant ... but nice. But today they don't think we're so nice, more overbearing, obstinate, too powerful, destructive and dangerous.
  • I know some who would argue that america is a new imperialist regime, trying to impose their world view through dominance (both military and the media). I know that you can't judge a nation on who's in power, but this is the case. Sometimes i think that Americans don't know that there is a world outside of their borders- when I worked with American kds they were very ignorant about European and Australian ways of life and how they may differ from their own- in a way that kids, at least here in Britain, aren't about America because they see it in the media constantly. There's also that old statistic about how many American's have passports, no idea if it's still true. Apologies for the generalisations, but I think that's the only way to discuss something as diverse as "a world view"
  • I don't know the world view of Americans except my own and I love America and Americans.
  • I am an American and I believe 99% of Americans only want peace and to be friends with the world. But I do see how other countries dislike the U.S. for always being involved somehow in nearly every conflict. Other countries have their own thing going on and as long as it is not threat the rest of the world we should not interfere. With a new president maybe things will change, I don't know. I would love nothing more than to travel the world and visit the Egypts Pyramids, Greece, The Far East and All of Europe but quite frankly I am a bit scared to do it. It's a shame how only a handful of people can cause the entire world to hate one another when myself, along with the majority of the world, don't want to fight with each other. I guess maybe it's human nature to act this way. It makes me very sad. John Lennon said give peace a chance but I doudt that will ever happen...
  • Unfortunately, many people in the world hate America for very good reasons. Especially since the Israeli occupation.
  • Generally speaking its not great. Although thanks to Obama its getting better!
  • The world hates us but wants our country and everything we have. They are jealous because we have worked and gained and now their free loading tales all come running here yelling give me for free. I deserted my country. I turned my back on my own country, so I want America to support me for free. Greedy immmigrants.
  • The world I do not think believes America at all cares about what the world thinks, as they have so much power and that they will do what ever they want anyway without discussions. Of course on the social side we see your own social critical documentaries, and some british ones and see that you have a few social issues too. But what county hasn't. People forget the positives, your universities are world top, and America has produced a lot of clever people and where would we be without them. People go on about Israel, and fine, Israel should perhaps have waited and had a few hundred casulties first in order to get a little more world support, but they didn't. If Israel did not have american support, they would have no support in the world at all.
  • First, let me say that I am American, and am speaking from experience conversing with people from other countries. --The Brits and Aussies believe we're stupid barbarians. --Russians believe they rule the world, while we pretend to. (Seriously, ask one of'em about their "Plasma Tanks" XD) --The French, Spanish, and Italians think we're ignorant, religious bigots, and that we lack any semblance of social refinement. (I've also been told that our buildings are ugly...) --Middle Eastern countries that aren't oppressed think we're the devil (Great Satan). --Middle Eastern countries that are oppressed think we're their saviors. --Japanese people think we're evil, imperialistic rapists. (Ironically, they sell soiled panties in vending machines... yuck) --Chinese people liked us when we payed their bills, and slaughtered their enemies, now they pay our bills, and they friggen hate us. --Vietnamese people love us! (Just goes to show you how crazy this little rock of ours is. XD) --Germans seem to hate everyone.(Excluding Hardcore Techno Bands) --Indians (India) seem to have a huge hatred for us. (Probably because they have to deal with so many of us through microsoft tech support. XD) --Africans (By this, I mean southern Africans, for info on Northern Africans, see "Middle Eastern People") don't care about America. (Why can't the rest of the world follow their example?) In short, when the world is nice and quiet, and everyone can sleep safely in their beds, America is hated for it's actions. And, when everything is turning to shit, the world hates us for our inaction. I'm reasonably sure you can see were I'm going with this. Maybe they should study our history a bit deeper, specifically, Benedict Arnold. He was a great and noble revolutionary, who, on several occasions, risked death and dismemberment for the freedom of our republic. He was, possibly, the only founding father who could have come close to George Washington's stature. Unfortunately, He was treated as the whipping child, and "scape goated" until he finally started taking revenge on those he had fought so feverishly, and risked so much to protect. Americans may act like they don't hear the things the rest of the world says, the lies that are created by scum for their own gain, and infinitely procreated by foolish, short sighted people. However, we do hear it, and we do see it. No matter what, we're never good enough. Contemptuousness causes sadness. Sadness breeds anger, anger breeds hatred, hatred corrupts valor and the brave burn the world. Like the greatest virtue and the worst dogs, the fiercest hatred is silent. Jean Paul Richter P.S. Why do you care anyway? If they don't like us, they should stop talking to us. (I wonder how quickly we could pay off our huge deficit, if we stopped sending foreign aid to half the world?)
