Can you provide guidance to open the upper/lower case of the Canon IP90 Printer?

    After an hour I eventually figured out how to get the top off. Here is how I did it.

    Turn the printer upside down and carefully remove the paper output flap - you need to bend it slightly so the lugs come out of the holes.

    You will see 3 large cross head screws (don't touch the 2 smaller ones). Unscrew all three.

    At the back of the unit there will be 1 or 2 screws at either end (mine only had one at either end). Undo one screw at either end - they connect to joining plates that hold the top and bottom together. If you have 2 screws at either end you can undo both but that will release the plates, which you will have to replace later. There is also a small rectangular plate held on by two screws - leave the screws in that plate. It is an access panel to the memory (?) battery of the printer.

    At the back there are also two clips marked with arrows - push both in. You should be able to prize the top and bottom halves apart from the back but don't pull too hard as there are still clips under the power button holding it all together.

    Now comes the tricky part. Turn the printer back the right way up and open both top flaps. From the front insert a small flat screwdriver over the metal bar that the print head runs along and underneath the plastic trim that carries the power button. Lift the plastic trim slightly and just to the right of the power light you will see a plastic tab that comes down - push it in towards the back of the printer and it will release a clip. Then, remove the paper-tray top flap and from the back of the printer pull the plastic trim the power button sits on slightly towards the back of the printer - two more clips should release and the whole of the top will hinge towards the front. It should then come apart easily.

    I couldn't work out how the get the bottom off as I didn't have another hour to spend on it - if anyone does please post a reply here.
