What's the grossest thing you've found in a hotel room?

I've worked at a hotel as a housekeeper in the past, and the most disgusting thing I've seen was left by a guest. There was poop all over the bed, smeared against the walls, smeared into the carpet. The room had to be out of order for weeks to get everything sanitary.

In a hotel in Poland the wash basin was cracked with green mould.The shower tray had green mold and someone had shaved their private parts and left the remains.

The room stank of sweat and hadn't been cleaned like the bathroom.Unfortunately I was stuck there until the next morning until I was picked up by the person who had booked the hotel for me.I told him in no uncertain terms that if my hotel wasn't changed I would be going back to Warsaw on the next train.Bingo a Five Star Hotel was booked for the rest of my stay.

Fancy hotel (Ritz-Carlton) someone's underwear was in the bed when I pulled down the covers. Got a new room, an apology and a free night stay.

I still remember this incident. I had a project in New Jersey were there are no hotel chains so I shopped around for a decent place to stay for two weeks. One place I looked at was called the Wagon Wheel and it looked like a family kind of place. The manager showed me a room that had a round bed. I was a little suspicious so I pulled back the covers. There were yellow crumbs from snack food and some really long curly pubic hair. I didn't want to know what else was in the room.

I've found blood stains in the mattress (visible through the sheet). Yuck.

Well, I've never really come across something gross, but I did come across something quite unique. Last New Years, my girlfriend and I found a box of fireworks in our hotel room. At first we thought perhaps they were put there by staff as part of the New Years celebration. However, when we took them outside to light them off, other residents informed us that they were never given any. So, obviously someone forgot them in our room. Needless to say, they added some additional fun to the New Year! Good question 4+
