You're reading What are your thoughts on the "hot fuel" issue? Do you feel that retail fuel pumps should be temperature compensated?

I agree. Not only does the consumer have no idea what they are getting, leaving price per gallon comparisons completely invalid, but retail gas stations collect fuel tax on the uncompensated gallons they sell, and only have to pay it on the gallons they purchased. A retail store that buys 1000 gallons at 60 degrees, and sells 1200 gallons at varying temps gets to pocket 200 gallons worth of fuel tax. That's outright fraud.

I absolutely agree with you Ginger. I hadn't thought about the tax side of it, but thats true.
